That mustache

Any thoughts on the mustache?

I figured, at first, that he had a fake mustache just to look more human in order to deceive Thomas into coming inside. But the mustache turned out to be real. I don't know if I dug it

Saw a leaked pic. I guess it makes him look more like Vlad the Impaler.

I was also expecting it to be fake until he revealed himself, but nope, it's real. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but it was a little distracting, it made him look like a stereotypical Russian or something.

reply

Or like a Hungarian or Romanian, which is appropriate. I liked the mustache myself.

Dracula has a handlebar mustache in the Bram Stoker book, so I thought that might’ve been a nod to the book.

reply

Eggers said in an interview that he took it from the book. Or he said something in style of, "The mustache? Just read the book."

reply

He's taking from the book and Vlad Tepes though I did find that to be a strange choice since one of the most unique and famous elements of Nosferatu is the design of Count Orlok. Eggers kept the hands but otherwise really downplayed the look despite being it one of the defining aspects of Nosferatu.

reply

I swear Count Orlok looks a lot like some NPC from the "Witcher 3" game. I think one of Olgierd's goons. Because of the exact same moustache and hairdo.
