Good, but not great

I liked it more than The Witch, but not on the same level as The Lighthouse or The Northman. Eggers is still a great director and there is some amazing cinematography and creepy moments, but it doesn't bring anything new to the table when telling his version of Nosferatu and had some serious pacing issues in the 2nd half. It felt like I blinked and then all the sudden the movie was over. I still recommend it, but I don't think it's as great as many are making it out to be.

I agree that the plot, which tracks such a well-trodden story, is a bit of a weak link: there's little suspense at certain points because we know the story already. And I found the ending a bit so-so. But it's still a great movie. The scenes are well-shot and well-acted; the dialogue is well-written . Skarsgaard makes a scary Nosferatu
