I don't like how the movie pretty much puts us on King Kong's side.

Spoilers: I know by the end of the film, it's pretty much a tie, but this post is about everything before it.

The thing that bothered me about this was that as soon as the film started, they made it that we cheer for King Kong. King Kong was taken from his home and forced to live somewhere else. Godzilla was created by humans. If anything, they should team up an destroy humanity for what they did.

But having Godzilla as a bad guy didn't make sense because there was no reason for us to be against Godzilla. Millie Bobby Brown's character even told everyone around he that 'zilla was a good guy. He wasn't the villain in the sequel, so why the sudden change. I found it hard for myself to cheer for King Kong and the humans when it's really the humans that should have died.

It was more like a frame up. Godzilla was trying to find the Alpha that the Mecha experiments were simulating.

Godzilla was roaming around the planet mowing down cities, destroying ships, and EVERYTHING in his path because he "felt" something. He had to have killed thousands of people. Good guy, my ass. You are out of your fucking mind.

In the Japanese 1954 film, Godzilla, it was explained that the monster was a prehistoric reptile of some sort who was mutated by radiation from a nuclear test conducted by the United States military in the Pacific Ocean.

The military was a factor for the reason why Godzilla was angry in the 2014 film and the sequel.

Humans didn't make 2014 Godzilla. You are wrong. Let's just get that out of the way.

I believe Godzilla made his first appearance in the 2014 movie because of the reemergence of the MUTOs.

In 1954, Godzilla, a prehistoric alpha predator, is lured to Bikini Atoll in an attempt to kill him with a nuclear bomb. In 1999, Monarch scientists Ishiro Serizawa and Vivienne Graham investigate the skeleton of a monster similar to Godzilla in a cavern unearthed by a collapsed uranium mine in the Philippines. They also find two giant spores, one dormant and one hatched, along with a trail leading to the sea. In Japan, the Janjira Nuclear Power Plant experiences unusual seismic activity as supervisor Joe Brody sends his wife Sandra to lead a team of technicians into the reactor. Then once again later in the plot, they bring up 1954 again.

Serizawa and Graham join a U.S. Navy task force led by Admiral William Stenz to search for the creature, dubbed a "MUTO" (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism). Serizawa and Graham reveal to Ford that a 1954 deep sea expedition awakened Godzilla, and nuclear tests in the 1950s were actually attempts to kill him; when this did not work, Project Monarch was established to secretly study Godzilla and similar monsters.

I didn't say the story was good. But they acknowledge the 1954 storyline in this series.

Gotta agree with FFN... I am a big fan of the original Gojira, but that one is not what the current series is about.
I can watch these ones but they seem as disposable as the '60s or '70s Godzilla movies I was brought up on; just bigger and slicker and with new nonsense background for a new generation.

I'm not saying that humans created him out of test tubes, I'm saying that they created him to be evil. I even recall them saying that he increased in size because of what they did.

Not to mention, you are WRONG. For starters, Godzilla has been killing for millions of years. He's a killer. Literally a monster. Then you try to ignore the 1000s he's killing in modern day and justify it by saying other humans tried to kill him in 1954. Fucking troll.

There is no evidence he was killing for millions of years, and certainly no evidence it was against humans. What he do know is that he was genetically mutated by humans.

Yeah, the guy's just trolling. Someone actually basically answered him a month ago. OP's whole issue is based on the idea that Godzilla is a villain in this movie. It's very clear that Godzilla is not a villain in this movie. He's a fucking amoral force of nature.

I thought the guy was simply wrong at first, but he's clearly a troll.

Jaws is a force of nature too, but he's still the villain too. For the purposes of the movie, you're not supposed to root for him. He's running around killing innocent people, attacks Kong first - there's nothing to cheer in that sense.

And the movie's attempt to justify his actions with Millie Bobbie Brown's character and the "evil corporation" didn't work. Humans ARE allowed to protect themselves form these monsters. There's absolutely nothing wrong wit building defenses. Godzilla objected to the very notion of it. Killed 1000s before Mecha Godzilla laid a hand on him. That's a villain.

I'll have to rethink my position on whether Godzilla is a villain or just an amoral agent.

I know what you are saying. Godzilla is "just an animal", not "evil". I understand it and it's not necessarily wrong, but it doesn't matter when the creatures actions lead to the death of 1000s.

Not to mention, Godzilla doesn't just sit back and mind his business, living in the oceans minding his business. He sought out a threat (Mecha Godilla) that wasn't a threat yet. He ATTACKED before MG was even finished. Humans didn't attack some harmless animal, they were building a weapon to protect themselves against something that can wipe our species off the planet - and hadn't even finished it before Godzilla went nuts.

He sought out a threat from Ghidorah. If the humans did not use Ghidorah's "essence" (for lack of a better term) then Godzilla would never had known about MechaGodzilla.

If he had a problem with humans he would not have left after that attack and instead continued to attack until everyone was dead. Godzilla sees humans as we see ants, he is not going to attack them but if they are in his way to get to his goal he is not going to avoid them either.

You when Godzilla kills humans: Meh.

You when humans try to defend themselves: Godzilla has a right to stop the threat against him! So what if said "threat" hasn't done anything to him yet, Godzilla has the right to defend himself!

This is goofy. There's no rationale to this whatsoever.
