The new Hollyweird thing is to give failed SJW directors guaranteed hit Marvel movies like when Joss Whedon was given Avengers after Firefly, Serenity, and Dollhouse all flopped. Banks will probably fail upwards, unfortunately.

shareSerenity was so excellent it failed to make it's budget back and Firefly and Dollhouse didn't last one season. Too excellent to stay on tv, LOL!
shareFirefly is one of the best series ever to be cancelled. The main reason was the series was played out of order and on different days so no one knew when it was on and even what it was about. The actually pilot wasn't aired until halfway through the series, they changed the train episode to become it's pilot and of course as the series played out it didn't make any sense and so numbers plummited.
Dollhouse i'll agree, never could get into that but Serenity is awesome, easily one of the best scifi films of the last 20 years. I remember it being described as what the Star Wars prequels wanted to be. Yes it didn't make a ton of money but box office numbers are no measure of a films quality. Many films don't make any money but are great films.
Serenity was basically a love letter to Firelfy fans to give them an ending so i'm not surprised it didn't make any money but again personally i absolutely love it, watch it regularly.

There's no way the government isn't involved with the backdoor financing these movies using printed money. These large corporations couldn't sustain these types of loses at the rate of $100+ million per major film. So, sadly, it's going to continue in the name of social engineering.
