Spoilers: The Ending Road Trip

So, both Mildred and Dixon were on their way to Idaho to meet up with psychopathic rapist guy. Mildred would definitely recognize the creep who came into the novelty shop and menaced her. What do you think was going to happen? And what does it say about those two characters?

Good reply. The ending could also be a setup for a sequel. To me Mildred’s gone too far to just give up. But I think they will carefully assess the situation and Mildred will then do her thing, which seems to be pretty fair in my book. I loved her no holds barred approach. More women would do well to fight back harder like she did.

I hope they don't make a sequel. I liked the somewhat ambiguous ending like in No Country for Old Men.

Yes, agree.

We really don't know. The director left it open for interpretation. That's one of the many cool things about this film.

They make it to Idaho, Mildred recognizes the killer from the gift shop and they blow him away.
His DNA does match and the the police chief is exposed for withholding the earlier DNA sample.
Reason being is that the chief hated Dixon.

Similar to yatzo376 I imagined either two scenarios. Both Mildred and Dixon venture to Idaho to find Crop-Haired Guy. When they do she recognizes him as the guy who threatened her in her shop. Then they interrogate him and he confesses. Then either
1) they kill him, burn his body and bury him so nothing remains. They then return home and give each other a cover story so in the future if they're asked about their whereabouts etc. they can give a satisfactory explanation where they went, who they were with, and know nothing about that guy's disappearance or homicide
OR
2) They bring him back to face justice. The DNA matches and Dixon is reinstated as a cop. I much prefer the latter (2) scenario☺️

I don't know. This is not a film you can bolt a vicariously satisfactory ending on. I also think there is zero chance of a sequel. I suspect for these two characters this part of thier story is over and a quieter period lies ahead. They probably turn back and things settle down and the killer is never found.
