The four offspring are nasty. The Mom seems normal enough but those awful offspring. They all are plain to outright ugly, untalented, stupid yet strut about like they are the superior to everyone around them. Pompous narcissists. Why do the Corfuians even put up with them?

Maybe you don't like the English. Trolling about a show you don't need to watch is pointless. Watch something that tickles your fancy more. Also, if you're talking about the Durrells, know that the season showing on ITV1 is the last in the entire series, and if I'm right, there's only three more episodes left. So you'll soon be rid of a show you don't like.
I adore the series, it's so good. You are trying to act smart here but you are not. It is made clear through the tv show that the kids are slackers, that has nothing to do with what they were like in real life, this is fiction.
shareSlackers? I knew the main child became a famous naturalist, another one joined the Corfu police, a third became a writer and I don't know about the girl, but they certainly didn't seem lazy to me.
This is the main child's memoirs, so maybe their family life was shown as well as their professional life.
Leader and everyone else here are allowed to express their love or their grievances freely, whether you like it or not. Maybe grow up and don't cry if someone doesn't agree with you about a show. People have ambivalent feelings about programs they watch all the time- we are human and therefore conflicted and complex. Such ambivalent feelings are why one might choose to come to a site like this and find others who feel similarly.
