Who could had possibly foreseen this? *dramatic pause* Oh everyone who found out Eli Roth was involved.

reply

This is clearly not Eli Roth’s fault. Not entirely at least. I mean over half of the movie is from Tim Miller’s reshoots and there are 8 writers attached. Roth’s final product was apparently a very hard R-rating, and it’s now been reedited to a PG-13. You think that was Roth’s doing?

reply

Agree. Eli Roth is VERY hit or miss, but I have a feeling there was a lot more behind the production of this resulting in it being bad instead of Roth.

from what i've heard, Roth made an R-rating movie that was dialed to a PG-13, and Tim Miller's reshoots make up for nearly half of the movie. some special effects are really good, but others are awful and look unfinished. this is because some of the effects had been getting worked on since 2021, while many major sequences are from late 2023 and barely had any time to be perfected. I've also heard that roth's version cost $100 million, while Miller was only given $20 million for reshoots that would end up making up a big chunk of the movie. so the film goes back and forth between looking professional and looking bottom shelf. not to mention, roth's version was finished in 2021 and sat on a shelf for three years.

Yeah I remember hearing that Roth was aiming for it to be a Hard R in the same vein of the games.

Studio is thinking, "We're going to make BANK on this one!" 😂

Honestly I'm not really surprised from the trailers the movie didn't exactly seem too promising. I never knew it was a video game it looked liked some guardians of the galaxy ripoff mixed with suicide squad.
