I have a feeling maybe he was never gay but because Kevin was the ONLY man/person who ever touched him, he thinks he's gay? Not sure but thats what I thought, since he's never been with a girl/woman? Does he even know if he's gay or not? I think because he has had so little love in his life, when he finally got some sort of attention from Kevin, he latched onto that. Any ideas? Are they both gay or confused? Hmm.

I think what made me look at him as a gay man was the conversation he had with Juan in the first act when he asks how he knows if he's gay. (that scene was heartbreaking).
But I really think it's up to the viewer to decide. I didn't look into it as much as you did which also causes me to think. But he knew he liked men, otherwise I don't think him and Kevin would've had their interactions. Kevin was also the only person to ever show him any sort of affection since they were little kids though so that could have something to do with it as well.
That scene with Juan, and the way he and Theresa handled it was so powerful. You could see them already feeling bad for Chiron having to question his own sexuality (if he was even old enough to comprehend what that was) along with everything going on at home and with the bullies at school. The way Juan sort of hung his head you knew he felt bad for the burden he was going to bare later in life when he was able to come to grip with those feelings.

As I watched the film I never got the feeling Chiron would ever be able to experience the freedom of finding out what his real self is until the end so it is really up to interpretation.

I heard that your first sexual experience determines what your sexuality is. So maybe Chiron was gay because even throughtout his childhood, adolescence and adulthood, he never hooked up with a female at all. Then he had that wet dream about Kevin so Chiron is gay. The story ends with him happily at peace in Kevin's embrace.

That's a bunch of BS, LadyGigi. You should be smarter than to believe such obvious crap.
Chiron not touching anyone for 10 years and then getting a call from Kevin and having a wet dream about him, well I think it's pretty indicative to the audience that he is gay. Kevin was the only guy he had ever felt anything for, and then he just bottled he's feelings and became 'hard' so as not to get hurt any further, although obviously inside he wasn't really himself.
I agree with icarusflies.. the fact that he asked Juan makes it pretty clear that he had sexual feelings for men, the only question for me is whether Kevin was or whether he was just experimenting with his sexuality. Whatever the answer, I hope they both went on to live happy lives because they both seemed to have had tough lives up until that point and seemed to deserve some happiness!
