It hurts to watch this

The whole premise of the show is completely ridiculous. A couple of simple facts: IF there's any water on Mars, it's a finite resource. There isn't anything that can produce water, more than it takes. No such thing as perpetuum mobile.

So, we can go there, make oxygen and live - for how long, with how many people. And then, that's that. Finished, over.

The end.

Edit: Even on Earth, predictions are that there will be WARS over water, as the resources dwindle (at an ever increasing rate). Not to mention how come that we're multiplying like rabbits, if four grandparents give two children, who then make one child.

What is the real question? Go to the Moon, Mars, mine for resources, discover an organism that can be the edge in biological warfare to rule the world? Why would they even want to do this, who is going to tell us - instead of selling us all of the propaganda, constantly.

It's getting a little old. Stale. I'm pretty sick of it, truth be told. :)

*Build a railgun, out of reach (of most), which can annihilate cities, countries; discover a new element to have impenetrable armor, a new weapon - you know, these are SOME of the real reasons they would be going and "exploring". Show it like it is, Cobra commander stop the propaganda.

You never watched Total Recall??? Ahnahld will go there and open endless water reserves. ;)

Seriously, yes, the premise that going to Mars will open a whole new viable planet if an extinction-level event happens on Earth sounds very optimistic and utopian - Elon Musk will save mankind! Right. A simple storm on Mars is an extinction-level event, so yeah, that sounds nice but Mars as a second home of the human race is very far out of reach.

Still, personally, I do think it's worth doing, within reason. Just be realistic about it.

Of course there're water ice on Mars, here's just one of the latest discoveries: http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?feature=6680. The total amount of ice that we know of can cover the entire planet surface with 35 meters of water.

And water can be recycled, if you split water into oxygen and hydrogen, then use oxygen for breathing and produces CO2, you can use Sabatier reaction to recreate water from CO2 and hydrogen, this system is running on ISS right now.

WRONG

Enough Water ice to cover Mars to a depth of 35 meters. That is a lot of water, capable of providing enough water for decades.

As to the point of going to Mars, Stephen Hawkings states we must leave the Planet or we as a species will die. That is good enough a reason for me.

I will go, as long as I don't have to "listen" to Stephen Hawking any more. As brilliant as he may be, nobody would give a sh!t if he wasn't a meat puppet.

After 3 episodes I have decided......

It hurts to watch this
