wouldn't that be stating the obvious?... or did you consider the movie a comedy? Why would you consider it a comedy?

reply

on this board i would think they would be talking about horror form the get-go

The guy's being a dick. Nothing wrong with verifying what he was saying since it was apparently too hard for him to fully articulate it.

reply

The guy is a dick, and horror is one of the most amazing, imaginative, thrilling genres around. Asking a rhetorical question like that is patronizing and condescending.

There are also some amazing documentaries that chronicle the history of the horror genre and delve into the psychology and reasons why people love it.

Nothing to see here any more, move along people.

reply

Do you have recommendations on documentaries that cover the horror genre that are good? I'd be interested in watching those.

reply

i assumed he meant horror anthology but wasnt sure if he meant satanic horror - was actually surprised he just meant horror. To me it comes off as someone not looking to discuss but bash different peoples' tastes.

reply

That is exactly what it was. THere's tons of sub-genres of horror, and I'm guessing that he can't articulate any of them.

reply

you could be talking about horror anthologies
or supernatural horror
or psychological horror

don't try to be witty.

reply

ok, ok, fine, fine!... i didnt realise it was also listed under sci-fy and thriller although i failed to see where the thriller or sci-fy is...

I meant the 'horror" genre. It;s perplexing enough people watch this gunk, some people read it....

close physical killing violence, like the hospital surgery scene and the mother then daughter killing scenes, I skipped them altoghter... i guess my aversion comes from seeing too much as a kid, as an adult my brother's killing and the world in general...

so to rephrase...

why do people like fictional bloody, gory, horrific, upclose death presented as personally as possible...

reply

Why not? Why would I rather watch something more boring and no gore kind of movie. No action and slow boring build up movies that end up failing flat at the end. I rather see this movie over those build up ones or even found footage crap. I think you rather see the movie Silent Retreat 2016.

Now that is one of the dumbest movies but I think you will like it. Seems like you like the lame and tame kind of movies over this one. I don't get why people hate horror genre.

I am a gore watching freak!!!

If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.

reply

nahhh, never said I hated it, just distressing and distasteful, but you already answered that

reply

I am a huge horror fan. I really like the supernatural and I love stories. Im not supersitious at all so its interesting to see different takes on ghost, aliens, the occult and anything that would seem "terrifying", things that i cant really see happening in reality.

I do see where you are coming from where there are alot of people who just like gore. Im not so much into psychological horror or horror where people are tortured as it could happen in real life, although i do still watch sometimes mainly for the acting, dialog, story ect.

But some people are just into that type of stuff. I dont mind it when its all meshed together like this film. This was actually a really good all in one horror.

I read this in a chola accent.

Some people are drawn to very dark subjects, some people are turned on by blood, some people like to be afraid or disgusted, some people are drawn to the very thing they fear most, death. In some ways it may even be to lessen how afraid they are of the reality of it. Each person may have a different reason, but obviously many people are drawn to the genre, and up close and personal bloody gory death.

reply

It's not obvious since only an idiot would question how anyone could like horror. I believe we all thought you were being more specific than horror in general. Like a subgenre of horror, duh.

Oddly enough I just watched this with a friend online who asked me why I showed it to her when I know she doesn't like comedies. She wondered why I said it was scary. So it all depends on how you look at it!

reply

thank-you for your inputs PC and Ras.
For me horror can be an interesting subject. The genre moved from the scary 70's with demon impregnation of Rosemary's Baby to the eat-me 80's with monster impregnation of the Alien series...

reply

Poor thing got distressed over a movie...

Oh I forgot, this is the way men act in 2016.

LMAO. YOU are distasteful. If it distresses you so much, why don't you watch Ils? I promise there is nothing distressing about it. It's completely pu***f*ed like you. The man has no idea what to do but run. Exactly like you dismissing a whole genre of films because you don't like one movie.

By the way I like Southbound.

Movies are entertainment bud

reply

Oh, and I agree with the other dude. I like stories, scary stories. My fav :)

Plus, I don't care for gore either. Psychological is the best. Try The Invitation. Probley more your cup of tea.

reply

Which one, 2003 or 2015?

reply

OP I think it's because everyone has different tastes and we're not clones. I felt the same way about the recent Star Wars film but others seem to like it

What a boring world it would be if everybody liked the same thing. I'm a huge horror fan, hardly ever watch Rom Coms or movies about love or romance. I watched this because I enjoyed the V/H/S trilogy and enjoyed this too. I don't get why people watch horror films then complain about them. It's pretty obvious from about 10 mins in that this is gonna have some gory scenes. If you don't enjoy the genre then stop watching the films then whinging that they aren't your cup of tea.

reply

I completely agree. I enjoy this kinda movies cuz they are really spooky. And they help you work your brain a little.
