Good movie and also good Netflix show

Now, I remember watching the 2004 version in theaters and it turned out to be a really good movie. And I also remember reading some of the books. And then came the Netflix show back at 2017 and so far as gotten more critical acclaim than the movie.

And yet, many people have been debating whether or not the movie or the show is more superior. Now, that's a tough argument especially to those who read the source material. However I'm gonna try to be fair for a moment. Both the movie and the show are very very good. Do they have their weaknesses? Yes, I'll admit the movie adapted the first three books which was ambitious but also very messy and the TV show did rely more on dark humor than drama, but both mediums did a really good job at representing the book series which is very welcomed considering how other adaptations both movie and TV form have either ranged from mediocre to downright terrible due to the fact that they rely more on set pieces and flushing out character arcs (*cough* Game of Thrones Season 8 *cough*).
