Wtf people really think they can take out a bear with a bow?

I get that its possible, but bears can be tough to kill with a fricking rifle, let alone a bow and arrow. And these guys have nowhere to go...if that first arrow doesn't kill the bear, they better hope it incapacitates is...because there's nowhere out there to run that bears can't get you. Up a tree, in the water...
Really having a hard time picturing the couple of guys who are "excited" at having seen signs of bears...actually taking out a bear with a recurve and regular arrows.
I could see entertaining it as a possibility maybe, but not being "excited" about the chance to risk a gruesome fucking death.

Just smear some faeces on the arrow and let nature take it's course.

The problem is that a bear can both outrun you and climb trees. If he wanna catch you, he'll catch you.

You do that, the bear will probably die, but you won't be alive to see that happen.

I agree that you're not going to defend yourself against a bear. But if you're hunting and score a good hit, then you can follow the blood trail until it bleeds out.

I personally would not hunt a bear with a bow. However, in the context of this show, I can see why contestants would.

Or a moose. Maybe a very skilled bowhunter, but that one chick who HAD NEVER HUNTED BEFORE IN HER LIFE was lamenting not having a bow when she saw a moose. The truth is, not having a bow probably saved her life. Moose are fucking mean, kill more people than bears (see below) and not having a bow probably saved her life as she probably would have just made it angry.

A friend of mine took down a six-foot Brown Bear with bow and arrow. He had it stuffed and has it displayed in the front of his store.
