How can anyone be genuinely impressed by this in 2025? Compared to the first Toy Story released 30 years ago which was mind-blowing at the time. Will the people remember Flow 30 years from now? Or are they giving it a pass because it is a "family movie"? There is a cat and a capybara. More importantly, at least for the establishment, there's a "message" and the film is (falsely) marketed as "indie".
shareI loved this movie. I cried at the end. Why would you compare this to Toy Story? How many Toy Stories do there need to be. Flow was beautifully made. Probably more adult than you think. No dialogue. Just being in the animal world after a flood. The secretarybird broke my heart. I predict - at least I hope - that this will win the Oscar. I’ve seen all the animated ones nominated this year, and this is the best by far. The worst was Inside Out 2.
