Shutter Island
Lots of similarities here, but as SI is one big tribute to gothic thrillers i'm fine with this. Verbinski is a very good filmmaker if hardly visionary as the trailer states. Glad he's returning to horror.

shareI got a big time Shutter Island vibe watching this trailer and came here to see if anyone else did. Even the actor's mannerisms in this trailer reminded me of DiCaprio in SI.
shareBlatant Shutter Island rip-off.
Seems they are using the 'red-herring' from SI as their main plot.
So many similar scenes, like looking with match/lighter in dark, people being carted off, and induced hallucinations.
You can't really rip off Shutter Island as pretty much everything in it had been done before.
This is a very common trope in suspense/drama/horror. That sais Shutter Island was an excellent movie and this one is looking good too.
I dont see how the plot is similar to SI as the twist of "wellness" is definately about ******... like that from the "skeleton key" (2005) with Kate Hudson. The difference will be in defying switching ~ not via mystery but via real surgery.
Not a shutter island at all..with psychology. More like "disgust" and "slasher" the "welness" seems to me.
You mean it's about a crazy person who thinks he isn't crazy? Not quite from the trailer I saw. Yes, the main character is confined after seeking someone from his corporation. Gets in a car accident, the staff suggests he stay there and get treatment and finds out that maybe they are being fed something that is altering them?
Sure. It's exactly like Shutter Island. It uses the tropes of gothic thrillers in an interesting way.

It is definitely at least visually similar to Shutter Island.
shareSure, but so are all the gothic thrillers that are part of the same genre
I think it's only more noticable because they were released only a couple of years apart. There are many other films that are similar they are just much further apart in release dates and don't share similar advertising venues
Yeah, I've been seeing ads all day long on SyFy and I kept thinking it seemed a lot like "Shutter Island". It's probably just the ads but hey I'm willing to give it a try.
