Transformers (2007) was better

As far as I’m concerned, the first movie is still the best in the series. It was one of the top grossing, most popular, and most talked about major releases of 2007.
Sure, opinions from critics and long-time Transformers fans were somewhat divided, but it was well received by the majority of TF fandom, earned the franchise some new fans (in turn, spawning new TV shows and selling more toys), was just all-round enjoyed by many moviegoers in general, and still is to this day - hence the retained 7.0 IMDb rating.

Bumblebee, while a decent enough movie, hardly comes close to the appeal and legacy of the first film, despite what the critics, purists, and loudmouth militant Bay-haters will argue.
In fact, once you take away the different “feel” compared to the other Transformers movies, you’re basically just left with Transformers PC edition/Iron Giant knock-off. It has little rewatch value, made the least amount of money in the series, and has since been almost forgotten about since it’s release. Go figure!

The first Transformers movie had a more light-hearted tone, but I liked this one too.

I have never seen the Transformers, although I passed by the set when they were filming in Chicago , in my area years ago. Passed right by those famed hot lights! I was watching Bumblebee a little bit today, but lost intetest. I primarily wanted to see Hailee's acting.I never saw any of her films before. Action films are not my cup of tea.

They are really different movies. Hard to compare. I think Bumblebee did a better job of having a well laid plot, and keeping it small made it much more intimate. The first transformers had more action, humor and was a global scale. Essentially, it comes down to what you wanted out of a transformer movie. I think Bumblebee is a better movie, but the first film is a better Transformers movie, if that makes sense.
