Transformers (2007) was better
As far as I’m concerned, the first movie is still the best in the series. It was one of the top grossing, most popular, and most talked about major releases of 2007.
Sure, opinions from critics and long-time Transformers fans were somewhat divided, but it was well received by the majority of TF fandom, earned the franchise some new fans (in turn, spawning new TV shows and selling more toys), was just all-round enjoyed by many moviegoers in general, and still is to this day - hence the retained 7.0 IMDb rating.
Bumblebee, while a decent enough movie, hardly comes close to the appeal and legacy of the first film, despite what the critics, purists, and loudmouth militant Bay-haters will argue.
In fact, once you take away the different “feel” compared to the other Transformers movies, you’re basically just left with Transformers PC edition/Iron Giant knock-off. It has little rewatch value, made the least amount of money in the series, and has since been almost forgotten about since it’s release. Go figure!
