After going to so much trouble to get authentic 80s props, cars, clothes, videos, music, etc...

Why spoil everything by giving Charlie 2010's slang dialogue? She says "I'm good, I'm good." when Bumblebee is brushing sand off her. Nobody said that until about 2010. She would have said "I'm OK" or "I'm alright" or "I'm fine." in 1987. At least it's not as bad as the video game "Call of Duty: WW2" where soldiers are shouting "I'm good!" in 1944.

Sloppy anachronism, though.

Also, by 1987, the game "Pong" was considered archaic and nobody would still have Pong hooked up to their TV.

Agreed on that. Also, was paintball tech that advanced in '87? That scene kinda bugged me. Maybe the military has always had bad ass paint rounds?

I don't get it. Final scene in Lethal Weapon, released in 1987:

"How are you?"

"I'm going to be all right. You?"

"Yeah, I'm good."

Regardless of its use in Lethal Weapon, it was not a common way to affirm that one was not in need of assistance at that time. It did not enter wide usage until approximately 2010. Maybe we can just pretend she was a big Mel Gibson fan.

It entered wide usage way before 2010. This looks like a movie that just pays lip service to looking like the 80s by featuring a few cars, a VCR, New Wave music or something. Charlie's hair isn't even 80s.

I wouldn't say 'way' before 2010. Definitely "I'm good" was not frequently heard in the early 2000s.

Charlie's hairstyle looked like it could have been worn by an 80s Goth girl.

I also pondered whether any even said 'friggin' in 1987. The afro on the friend was a bit out of place for me. I thought Michael Jackson's Thriller look made all guys grease down the fro. The brothers jew fro was a little 70s too.

My Dad used to say "Friggin" in 1987, but he was born before WW2. And the Afro was indeed way too 1970s. Yeah I thought of that and remember all black dudes having that hairstyle in the early 90s, albeit a bit shorter on top.

Plus Eddie Murphy had the low shave look, which would have influenced black men to lose the fro.
