I loved it. Loved the characters, story, and the scenery is breathtaking. I also appreciate that it's a family film.... fun for all ages. It broke my heart when Bella and Zag died, but this is life. It is well acted by everyone... and the boy is a natural. I hope he is able to continue acting.... if this is his goal that is. Just a really fantastic film.

I liked it and thought it was a nice adventure type movie.
Sam Neill was excellent; the music was really nice.
It's a heartwarming story and we can always use more of those.

ok until the last scene when the boy framed the poor old fellow and shot him in the ass

So far This is probably the best movie I've seen from 2016. Great genuin and funny characters in a great beautiful setting (New zealand landscape <3)and smart character driven humour made me laugh and smile my ass off all way through. It just felt so adventurous and fresh especially in a year like this when even some of the great movies have been kind of stale and unoriginal.

This movie was amusing, having a paramilitary manhunt for two "fugitives" (like they were really a threat to anyone).....I wonder if the director and writers were spoofing the post 9/11 era of over-aggressive police actions (don't know if that's a reality in New Zealand)....The funniest thing was the child protective services woman acting like she was a cop, even reading Hec his rights when he was arrested ("They only do that in America, and you're not a cop.")

I loved it!! A strong message there. It means different things to different people. For me. . . two very different people who learn to accept each other under trying circumstances, and actually end up liking each other in spite of their ages and differences.

I'm from Romania and i have to admit i didn't know about the crumpy thing or the joke about 2 men alone in the bush and, now knowing it, it didn't change anything for me.the movie is just wonderful and the kid stole the show.
