Felt a bit like Wes Anderson

no?

reply

Not to me. I don't care for Wes Anderson films, but I like Taiku's stuff.

reply

yes?

reply

yes.

reply

Moonrise Kingdom-ish, but without Bill Murray.

I'll be good I swear... I'll never see a movie ever again.

reply

Exactly what I was thinking. Does anyone know what this style is called?

reply

neo-hipster

reply

If you like a Wes Anderson film or this one you're automatically a hipster? Makes sense

And I'm not sure if there's a specific name but I guess they're just quirky and artistic movies.

reply

Hipster isn't necessarily a bad thing. Only to people who think they're too good for hipsters. This movie was pretty hipster-y, but that's a good thing. Great shots with great scenery. Taika is a very talented director.

I find Wes Anderson films entirely, nauseatingly unwatchable, and HftW is now a very favorite film of mine - so, no. Not so much.

reply

I too was reminded of several Wes Anderson movies.

reply

Totally agree. Loved every bit of it.

reply

Have you guys seen "Beasts of The Southern Wild", I feel these two are very similar!

reply

It had a bit of an indi cork to it, but the writing was actually funny and didn't come off as pretentious like every Wes Anderson film.
