just finished the series..

hmm..

the first episode was horrible, i kept watching cus of the praise on this board, it was great and then everything after that was.. ok.

i don't understand why everyone loves it so much tho.

there were good characters and then not so good ones..
but in the end it turned out to be one of those Woody Allen-esque (is that a word?) 'comedies' where 20-something hipsters, who have obscure PR/entertainment/artsy-fartsy jobs, sit around and ponder life's great big 'mysteries'..
i just couldn't really relate..

Couldn't get into it for the exact same reasons.

Just having watched the first five episodes in the last five days, I'm very late to this party, but I'll chime in nevertheless.

In a nutshell: It made me laugh pretty reliably. I will watch Season 2. So, mission accomplished, show runners!

My quibbles (so far) are these--
1) Speeches. Too often the dialogue exchanges sound like speeches of the And-Now-I'll-Share-My-Thoughts-From-The-Corner-Of-The World-I-Live-In variety. It's funny stuff, but aren't Dev and his pals already supposed to know each other well? Why are they constantly explaining their styles and motives to one another?

2) The characters are frequently at bars, in restaurants, at dinner tables, etc., but no one is eating or drinking. They sit and talk with their hands in their laps. Give the actors some business--eat the food, drink the drinks! (Come to think of it, if the actors had more business to do while delivering them perhaps the speeches wouldn't come across like Speeches.)
