Not a comedy, a satire
Spike Lee said it's not a comedy (unlike the original Greek play, Lysistrata) but a satire.
Satire of what, though? The idiocy of human relations reduced to a sexual transaction? And the idiocy of human identity reduced to sexual ego?
I enjoyed it, but it could have been much better. Accuracy about the Chicago gang culture, for starters, and some depth beyond the exaggerated cardboard sexuality of almost every character.
