So much media focus on this question, but, in the end it's never decisively addressed.
In fact, I was getting mixed signals. At times, I thought he had a thing for Mike and was upset with Mike's relationship with El. Then, at times, I thought it was the complete opposite... he had a thing for El too, but was upset that his best friend was getting all her attention.
It's mostly implied that he's gay. If it turns out that he had a thing for El then it would be a twist. But it was left ambiguous at the end so we won't find out until the next season

He's the only one of the boys who hasn't been involved in any girl and has so far shown no interest, the girl in school tried touching his leg and he was freaked out and pulled his leg away, he had the conversation with Mike and started crying (because Mike is more interested in El and he is having to keep his homosexuality in the closet), then he later had the conversation with his brother as if indicating his brother is aware he may be gay. On top of all that they keep giving him these weird haircuts to suggest he's different from the others in some way. Not to mention this show is on Netflix and has a fairly strong woke agenda.

It makes me wonder if it's going to be used in some dramatic plot turn in the final season, e.g. Will or Mike dying, and Will confessing his feelings for Mike in their last moments.
Yes they act like it's tough being gay "because 80's" but then you have openly lezo Robin who is basically forcing a straight girl into intimacy...
