Hopper [SPOILER] ?

Do you think he's still alive ?

If he's dead, who the American prisoner in Kamchatka ?

reply

If it isn't Hopper, my guess is a character we haven't met yet and they are going to introduce in Season 4. They probably haven't been cast yet either, which is part of why they didn't show them besides keeping it open for fans to talk about and theorize about during the wait for Season 4 to be released.

A part of me is hoping it's not Hopper. Hopper is in my top 5 favorite characters of the show, but I kind of want him to remain dead. I have a small troll side to me, so I just want him to stay dead to watch the world burn among the fans. But I also want him to remain dead because everyone keeps complaining that no one major ever dies in the show. It's always smaller/expendable characters that get killed off. So keeping Hopper dead will just shut up all the fans complaining that no one major ever dies. But at the same time those complaining that no one ever dies are probably the ones "rioting" and stuff that Hopper died and want him back. Plus hoping that this American is Hopper. As much as I want Hopper to still be alive, I've accepted he died. He's probably going to die anyway either sometime before the series finale or in the series finale. Might as well make this Season 3 death his actual death and get it over with.

Having Hopper sacrifice himself at the very end was what I pictured for the character. Oh well. He may be alive or he may be dead. If Hopper isn't The American, I expect it's Dr. Brenner. They could always surprise us with someone else (like Murray) but I believe it's one of those two.

Hopper didn't die. Did you notice how clean the floor was after he supposedly exploded?

I respectfully disagree. I want Hopper alive since I really like him.

It's probably Hopper, but it could also be Eleven's "Papa". Wasn't it alluded to in Season 2 that he was still alive? I thought perhaps the Russians found out from him about the gateway in Hawkins. Otherwise, how did the Russians find out about it? Was that explained in the show and I missed it?

The Russians could've had an operative embedded in Hawkins Lab, or at an office in Washington that processed its reports. Having incomplete information about the threat on the other side of the rift would certainly explain their willingness to re-open it. Seems like they're interested in the demogorgons. Tough armored predators with an intelligence at least doglike, possibly more on the order of a lower primate, certainly trainable.

When Eleven first encountered the demogorgon in her remote viewing "water space" Brenner seemed to believe a telepathic extraterrestrial was reaching out to her. Which is why he told her they were going to make history, this is the day we make contact, etc. He was wrong about what they were dealing with of course. But assuming the Russians have some documents from the lab and not others, they may think they can make peaceful contact with the entity in the Upside Down.

Or they captured Brenner and willingly or not, he then provided them with key information. He wasn't at Hawkins Lab anymore when the Mind Flayer tried to invade. He didn't know about that, so maybe the Russians don't either.

Yes I do, and yes, he's the American prisoner in Kamchatka.
