I mean it looks like over chinese movies out there and it looks it was directed by Zhang yimou
Also I heard mushu or shang won't be making appearances in here
Mushu cracked me up in the cartoon version and I loved shang especially that song I'll make a man out of you
But sadly he won't be in there nor his song
This film isn't based on the Disney animated movie but tracks closer to the cultural mythology. I for one am excited to see how the movie turns out just based on the trailers alone. Wait and on the song Loyal, Brave and True by Christine Aguilera.
Will it be better than the animated version? Regardless the two films will be compared but Mulan 2020 really is it's own film.
I doubt it. They cast a woman who agrees with Chinese totalitarianism, she's dressed in a red outfit instead of a green one like in the cartoon, there will probably be no singing (that would actually be a relief, to be honest), no Mushu for supernatural comic relief, no Shang for romance, and they're replacing Shan Yu with some evil sorceress. Not to mention Disney's recent track record for the past 4 years of doing shitty live-action remakes that not only don't offer anything new, but change the story in a way that's insulting to the source material.
So yeah, I think it's gonna be crap.
