What a good movie until......(SPOILERS)....

Watched this and was amazed at the quality all around - filming, acting, story - UNTIL...the killing of the scumbag who had his daughter.

There were some other minor criticisms (for example, how quickly they cleared calls and some of the tatics - approaching the one vehicle w/o back up -

Oh, one other complaint - the one alley scene with the two hyped up vice cops - now, that scene was probably something more realistic out of the 1970s...

And the filming...loved it. The sharp focus while still capturing the grit...

But man, why did they have to ruin it with the one scene?

I personally don't think it ruined it at all. Showed how cold Thomas Jane had become but also showed us that the criminal was a scumbag child molester who deserved it. I think it would be naive to think this kind of thing doesn't happen. Great movie.

Yeah, that was pretty consistent, and the movie not only builds to that moment, but also acknowledges it. I don't think it ruined the film at all. The movie demonstrated a variety of elements in the cop experience. Obviously stylized and really unrealistic (lol, no paperwork needed at all for anything), but it really fleshed things out. Jane's character wasn't some choirboy.

that scene elevated the movie IMHO
