Possible solution for the Hungries building up against the fence
It’s stated and shown that they will all travel as a pack to chase down any food source, even if it’s just one person/animal. I think that when the number of Hungries became too large and the fence started to become vulnerable they should have had everyone inside hide somewhere and then send out one or two people in a truck (maybe have one driving it and the other person riding on top yelling into a megaphone) and drive directly away from their camp. All of the Hungries surrounding the fence would then leave and chase after the people in the truck. (Similarly to when they sent Melanie out to get an animal to lure the Hungries away from them in the city) Once the truck drove far enough away from camp and got enough distance between them and the horde, then they could slowly circle back toward the camp, but with enough distance away from the horde and wide enough of an angle to not be seen or heard by them. They could then re enter the camp and there would be either none or maybe only a couple new Hungries around the fences. I think that could definitely work, and should be a procedure carried out by every camp whenever the number of Hungries exceeded some amount deemed to be getting close to dangerous. Instead of shooting their finite number of bullets through the fence at the horde. Which would lead to ammunition shortages, constant loud noises attracting more Hungries, and damage to the fence whenever bullets hit or ricocheted off the fence links/posts. Does my plan make sense, am I missing something that makes it ineffective, or does anyone have another superior idea to mine?
