Her use of a prostitute

Why would someone as beautiful and young like Elizabeth need to use a prostitute? Getting sex without commitment is easy for someone that looks like her. Just walk into a bar. Did anyone find this part of the plot to be ludicrous?

Also, does anyone know why she would risk jail time just to win this bill? What motivated her? She never really seemed to be that much of a believer in strict gun control.

She's a career driven individual who seems incapable of connecting with others on a human level. She does seem to find the same release from sex, so why not get it without the hassle of any type of small talk or emotional attachment.

Whenever sex is put in to a film there is no other reason for it than the obvious reason it sells it's filler to keep you involved

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.

sagal702-3,
Just walk into a bar.

That's dangerous. It's safer and more discreet to hire an escort.

l'll get my cape...
..I wanna put dem paws on him. Dig that..

What if he was a part of her plan all along?

She wanted no-strings sex that was focused on her pleasure, and if she picked up some random dude at a bar, she wouldn't know if it would be good and the odds are the guy would be focused on his own pleasure, not on hers. It's true that a good looking woman can usually get sex when she wants it but it will rarely be good sex. (i.e. good for HER.)
She was a busy person and did not have time for bar hopping and mediocre sex with selfish one night stands. When she pays for it, she had control and she can get what she wants when she wants it with no wasted energy.
Basically the same reason men use prostitutes.

Oh my, where to begin: STD's, stalkers, killers, scammers? I am presuming the men she hires have been vetted and have to have medicals routinely. I would never ever hook up with a stranger in a bar in this day and age.

She's just emotionally stunted... or at least that's what it would've been called in previous generations... I suppose this type of neurotic, self-obsessed behaviour is more commonplace now...

It's such a cliché... You can, if you are so inclined, have a regular sex-buddy without entering into a prostitution arrangement... Especially when you're an attractive woman...

It's interesting how the culture sees this cliché in the movie as some form of empowerment... if it was a male lobbyist and female prost, I'm certain people would look at it less favourably, or it would be seen as some adolescent bro-culture thing... Like in Casino Jack for example...

Anyway, I think American Gigalo did the whole male-hooker thing better... it's also a better movie overall than Sloane, even though Ms Sloane isn't a bad movie by any means...

It might also be that high end male "escorts" need a solid professional reputation as to size, skills and stamina. You don't get those assurances when you simply wander into a pickup bar (OR SO I HAVE HEARD!)

It's possible she wanted a tried-and-true professional for the job.

Her time was limited!

As with men, women don't pay prostitutes for the sex.
They pay them to go away after.
