Sequel working title: GB Firehouse

Though there was a lot of talk around the time of Paul Feig's Ghostbusters about building a cinematic universe around the concept of busting ghosts, it never quite materialized. In the wake of the success of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, however, things are certainly moving forward. Sony used Ghostbusters Day to confirm that a sequel to Afterlife is in the works and, in addition to that, a new animated movie.

Talking at a presentation panel about their plans, Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan announced that the codename for the new film is "Firehouse" and that it'll be set in New York, home of the original two movies. Which is not that much of a surprise given that Afterlife ended with Ecto-1 driving back into the city. Reitman and Kenan are at work on the new script, which, they say, features "the next chapter in the Spengler family saga", pointing to a return for the likes of McKenna Grace's Phoebe and Finn Wolfhard's Trevor.
