Can't believe Sony are doing this again, okay maybe I can. Let's hope Jason Reitman does it justice.

reply

They're actually doing this?

reply

Yeah, release date scheduled for 2020.

reply

Is it a legit Ghostbusters 3 though?

reply

Yes it is. Jason has made it VERY clear that this won't have anything to do with the 2016 monstrosity.

reply

Well, Sony finally got their heads out of their asses I see. They should've given us Ghostbusters 3 20 yrs ago.

reply

Exactly, or they should have done this when Ramis was still alive. Ghostbusters 3 won't make any sense without Ramis in it. Plus the other 3 are incredibly old, unless they just do cameos.

reply

Yeah, the original cast has not aged well.

reply

Might be okay. I read Papa Reitman is gonna be overseeing things a bit. Just keep that nutbag Akroyd away from the creative side of things.

reply

Let's hope this follows the original ones and doesn't get into virtue signaling. I find it difficult to believe but... who knows? Maybe there's some hope after all.

And Jason Reitman is a damn good director.

reply

I have a feeling they're going to ape the original films too hard and just retread things. I don't want to hear the same soundtracks and see the same sets and props again.

reply

Well, it's not that hard to make something new and compelling. It's not about cloning the original ones, it's just giving your best shot, avoiding preaching, lecturing, virtue signaling, and political stuff in general.

reply

I want to see a film set in a world that's been actively ghost busting for 30 years. Where Egon is the Steve Jobs of ghost busting tech. No way in hell they're gonna do that. I've little doubt the Ghostbusters will once again be portrayed as looney outsiders. They're never gonna do it right so I don't give a shit what they do.

reply

Give up hope, dreams are for suckas, aint no good 21st century Ghostbusters movie for you

reply

What a joke.

Is it too much to ask for something new and different? I liked the first Ghostbusters, but it wasn't a cinematic masterpiece, just a fun summer movie. Even the 1989 sequel failed to capitalize on the first one as it was nothing more than a retread and unoriginal at its core.

I'd blame the millennials and the centennials but this movie is being produced by baby boomers who feel the need to follow George Lucas' footsteps and retouch something that isn't broke.

reply

I think it's way past time for a part 3 of Ghostbusters. But I will probably watch the movie out of curiosity.
