Spoiler review : Only read if you saw the film. (Did you like it?)

I really liked it. It was your typical thriller but Levi Miller really sold the movie for me, he was so despicable. Only minus was that it took me very little time to figure out the movie was not going to be about a babysitter and her guard being terrorized by a shadowy person but really about a movie about a babysitter being taken hostage and abused by the kid she his suppose to babysit, I think they could have hidden the twist a bit better at the beginning. Levi Miller reminded me of the killers in "Funny Games". He had an angelic face that was hiding a disturbed, sadistic entitled, spoiled little monster and I really would have love to see him getting his face punched at some point. The ending was quite humorous and it was mildly satisfying in the way that you knew the kid did not get away with his evil plans after all but still I think it lacked more punch. Only issues now is that every time I would see Levi Miller playing a nice kid in another movie I will not be able not to think of him in this role lol Who else saw it? Your opinion?

I really enjoyed the film but I noticed a possible plot hole....SPOILERS AHEAD.

Who threw the brick through the window near the beginning?
The 2 kids were downstairs with the babysitter so it couldn't have been either of them.....?

Other than that, I thought it was a highly entertaining horror comedy.
I liked the ending, although the sick bastard in me wanted him to get away with it lol.

reply

Yeah I picked on that too but I was just thinking it was an invention from the kid that would trow the brick in a push of a button or something lol Considering he his quite an imaginative little shit with the home alone prank and all that. I do not know if I would have loved to see him getting away with it, it certainly would have went against type but this kid was too smug for me I did not want him to have a happy ending.

Ha nooo! lol Sequel?! I prefer to pretend I do not know about this now

reply

Haha I guess I just like ****ed up endings. But I get what you mean..

As for him pressing a button, triggering something to throw the brick...That did cross my mind too but then who pressed the button? If you watch back, you can see neither of the kids pressed any buttons.
It's not a big deal though, I still really enjoyed the film.

I didn't see that in the credits either but that's pretty cool, I would like to see a sequel!

I really loved this film in so many ways. I have told everyone that I know that likes horror films not to miss it. I will not say a word about it, but tell them two things. Watch the trailer and make sure you watch the credits. Why watch the trailer? Because (Spoiler alert and since this is a thread for people who have seen the film) , when have you ever seen such a purposely misleading trailer in your life? Brilliant.

When Jeremy first arrives he kicks the launcher device the kid set up to launch the brick.

Two actual plot holes are, how did the girl put duck tape on her neck when she was still pretty well tied up.

And two, it appears near the end that Like popped his sleeping tablet. Yet either they don’t work on him anymore or the people forgot they showed like take a tablet. Add in he had been drinking as well and he should have probs been pretty fucked by the time the cops and ambos arrived.

But yeah the launcher is a simple one. They guy outside sets it up and it’s just delayed long enough that he has time to make it around the front and then it goes off.

Didn't you notice the siege machine like contraption the second boyfriend nearly fell over? They even show the broken window when he hit the contraption! It is obviously an automated brick throwing machine.

reply

Didn’t notice the seige machine but thanks for pointing it out. Now the “throwing the brick” thing makes sense.

One thing I still don’t understand that maybe you can clear up for me is how was the babysitter was able to get the duct tape onto her neck if her hands and arms were bound tightly to the chair.

I don't remember the movie that well anymore, perhaps that was a genuine plot hole?

I was gonna post the answer, but just see kurt24's post below :)

This was actually one of my favorite movies this year. I really didn’t see the twist coming and I liked that it happened early because the first 10-15 minutes seemed a bit cheesy and they could’ve lost audience members before they revealed the twist if they’d played it out longer. I love how they left the ending open to interpretation a little bit, it left me wanting more and makes rewatching it more fun. Plus I love trying to get into the mind of a psychotic person😂😂 Levi Miller is definitely a child actor to keep an eye on.

the ending was stupid and predictable. of course he didn't kill her because they never showed her getting sliced and that means she wasn't killed because it's not epic enough. this movie is typical hollywood conventional crap.
