He shoplifts a sandwich because HE DOESN'T FEEL LIKE PAYING FOR IT???

He goes to great lengths to disguise himself because he is "on the lam." He knows the cops are looking for him. Yet he steals an effing sandwich??? This is a guy who has no doubt that he can get away with anything, and got tired of the cops not being able to find him.

I doubt that he killed the Berman dame because he didn't think he had anything to fear from anybody. The other murder victims were covered up. The mob connection seems like the most likely reason for that one.

This incident and the alleged killings shape his personality, I don't think the director realized the diabolical being he was dealing with for this doc.

I agree he doesn't "fear" anyone, as such. But fear has nothing to do with it.

She was about to divorce him. It was either about control (him not willing to let her leave him), or simply financial (not wanting to give up a substantial portion of his wealth in the divorce).

I just wonder what part of his personality was appealing to begin with. How did he marry his first wife in the first place. His second wife, a calculating reptile, is much more his speed.

You're confusing his first wife (Kathleen McCormack) with his friend (Susan Berman) who was possibly blackmailing him.
