I have to wonder, who sees this trailer

and thinks, this is a movie I want to see.

And why?

To me it just looks like more fake violent shit that has no point or importance behind it.

reply

I already went to see it….love historically based stuff.

reply

Do enlighten me ... what history was it based on?

reply

The last legally sanctioned duel in France.

Do you feel you learned anything about the actual importance of the real historic event, or just was made aware of it by a movie that had nothing really to do with the importance or relevance of that event? Did the story actually reflect what happened. I watched the movie U-571 ... or whatever number it was, and then after I saw it and read about it, it was a total useless lie with maybe one or two relevant facts to the story - but as a viewer you never really understand anything of the real facts. Just happened to see that trailer a few days ago,

Dude…it was entertainment set within the parameters of a historical event….I like that stuff…but I don’t go to the movieplex to be taught history…Mainly just to enjoy myself.

To honestly answer the question, it’s not really an IMPORTANT event beyond the fact that it was the last of it’s kind…so I don’t know what I would learn….it did appear to mostly follow the traditional understanding of the timeline….and only veered into some current social justice stuff near the end when the testimony occurred right before the duel.

Well, sounds like a useless fucking movie to me.

THAT'S ALWAYS A BUMMER.

I am very curious to find out what fictional movies you would deem to be NOT useless.

reply

Hmmm, good point.
I am sure there are some though.

You're posting useless comments on a useless website but who's counting.

Does the movie follow any of that history, or give you a sense as to why this story was so historically important as to warrant a whole movie being made about it?
