Intriguing premise (spoilers)

Note: This post has MAJOR SPOILERS.

Anyone who’s a fan of the ID Channel, true crime or mysteries will be intrigued by the setup for this documentary. A mom goes missing in 1990, leaving no clues, and her family with no closure. Was she murdered? Did she leave on purpose? 24 years later one of her sons decides to investigate.

The premise is good, and it’s initially interesting watching the search unfold. Will they find answers? Turns out, the answer is an easy yes. In less than two weeks they learn she wasn’t living very far away, and her disappearance boiled down to a dysfunctional family. The resolution - meeting the mom all these years later - should’ve packed an emotional wallop. Instead, it’s anti-climactic, feeling almost tacked on.

I’m glad the filmmakers found the answers they were looking for. I just wish the journey they took us on would’ve been more involving.
