Overrated. 8? Really...

Pacing was terrible because of the forced gimmick. Like others have said first hour was pointless. Still unbelievable that this chick would spend more than 5 minutes with these loud drunk aholes. There was nothing likable about these guys. They remind me of that one friend you have where you cringe when they decide to get drunk. Seriously what did Victoria see in that Sonne guy? Every sentence he spit out was a lie. Is that really charming? I give it a generous 5. I was highly disappointed in this waste of time. IMDB rating way off on this one.

Well the film was meant to be so real, this is why you felt that the first part was pointless while it's not because it showed the beginning of this relationship.

And yes she would hang out with them because she's lonely, you can see that in the first scene where she's offering some guy in the party a drink. She also mentioned loneliness in the piano scene.

It's not overrated, because it doesn't not even getting what it deserves.

reply

Her loneliness would have made more sense if the actress was less attractive. I cannot imagine a girl looking and acting as sweet as Laia Costa would wind up being lonely in Berlin after 3 month waiting a cafe.

Sweet girls can be lonely too. Loneliness isn't something exclusively for unattractive people.

Thank you dani. 👍👍

"Ain't life grand!"

The idea that hawt, bubbly girls are never lonely and struggle with human connection is ridiculous. That's how unattractive people think.

One of the best movies of the year. OP doesn't understand *beep* about film.

reply

And you don't understand bleep about people having different opinions about movies.

reply

true, but backcountry, home sweet hell and hot tub time machine 2, 7's???? and that was just the first page... spring breakers an eight... that's not a bad movie - that's a freakin' awful movie. To be fair we have some in common...

you gave Boyz in the Hood a 6?!?!?

reply

While you are of course entitled to your opinion, you are the one saying that the IMDB community is way off in his appreciation of this movie, seemingly forgetting that these matters are highly subjective.
After all, one could very well be puzzled by your own voting history, I mean you gave "Birdman" a 2 and "Carol" a 3 while thinking "Chef" and "Charlie Wilson's War" deserved an 8.
Now I know a few people who would find these appreciations to be way off...

reply

Since you are one those who do understand *beep*, please enlighten me.

What is it that makes this slow paced and unlikely film so fantastic? One-take and ad-libbing doesn't make it less boring.

reply

its a 4 at best, boring as *beep* , if i wanna see some drunk idiots wasting their life might as well head out to the nearest cheap club.

I'd say it's underrated movie.

There's something wrong with Esther.
