What do you think of my top 50 horror movies?

Have a look and tell me what you think :)

Excellent list! A lot of your choices are my favorite horror films as well!

reply

Thank you :)

What are your top 5 horror films?

reply

What about 2005's High Tension?

reply

I have not seen that one yet. Will put it on my watchlist!

reply

Good list!

I feel like we have a similar taste in movies.

Thank you "radiopadilla" ๎€

reply

Did you see Don't Breathe? what did you think of it?

reply

Yeah. Love movies like that with unstoppable tension. Great acting as well.

Would probably rate it an 8 out of 10

reply

Bull $hit list! Scream at 50, whatever.

reply

Calm down now. Where would you have Scream? In the top 10?

reply

a perfectly good list, i'd say. there's some films i love and some that i don't in there, naturally, but we're allowed to be different. the harshest thing i'd say is that it's kinda front-loaded with what some might call obvious picks (your shinings, exorcists, stuff like that) but they're obvious for a reason i suppose, and lots of people love them.

hooray for rec at 28.

This is my happening and it freaks me out.

reply

Yeah I love Rec. Obviously with 50 films there will be som disagreement. But thanks

Good list. I agree with most of your picks. The only issue I have is that you don't have many pre-1960 titles. In fact, you have only 1 film on the list that was released prior to 1960. Do you not like older movies, or have you just not gotten around to seeing them yet?

Also, what about Italian gialli like Deep Red and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, or even Whatever Happened to Solange?

reply

Thanks. I have Nosferatu, Frankenstein and Dracula omn the list. I love older movies. I will have to check out your recommendations.

reply

Sorry about that. I had skipped over Dracula and Nosferatu. Still, I'd encourage you to at least check out a few other older films, like FREAKS, THE WOLF MAN, and THEM. Also, have you seen the 1978 remake of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS? It rates pretty high for some people.

Good luck, and have fun.

reply

Invasion of the body snatchers is on my list. Wolf Man is good. Freaks I have yet to see. Have you seen The Invisible Man (1933) ?

reply

Yeah, it's not one of my favorites. I love the special effects, but the film isn't one that I enjoy returning to. Some love it, though, and I wouldn't begrudge them of that.

reply

Have you ever seen any of the Italian horror films from the 70's and 80's? I am a big fan of Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci. Other then then that I certainly won't argue with the list, most of them are my favourites as well. Though I have to admit I never saw the appeal of the remake of the Ring but I saw a copy of the Japanese version years before the remake came out but that's just personal taste.

reply

Thanks. Italian horror films I have yet to watch. I'm gone check out some Dario films. Have you seen Wishmaster by the way? I love that movie.

reply

I think your list is pretty great! A lot of my favorites of all time, especially in the first half. You have to check out the work of Dario Argento! And might I suggest "Don't Look Now" by Nicholas Roeg and "Repulsion" by Roman Polanski and "Salem's Lot" by Tobe Hooper.

reply

Thanks! yeah I've heard a lot about Salem's Lot. Will have to watch that film soon.

reply

Salem's Lot was originally a mini-series on TV. I think it was at least three nights. I would try to watch that instead of the edited down version.

reply

Don't Look Now and Repulsion are must-see's for any aspiring horror-thriller cinephile, but Salem's Lot??

reply

Salem's Lot has some really great atmosphere and unusual touches. I'm not saying it's some masterpiece...I think Tobe Hooper directed it. And the vampire is pretty freakin' scary.

reply

I haven't it in years.... I love Divoff in it. I should look it up again because I thought it was fun.

reply

We have also a Mr. Robert Englund in the film ๎€Ÿ

reply

Shocked to not see "The Sound of Music" on that list . . . Come on, man!

reply

Haha..I'm sorry man. TSoM and Cannibal Holocaust were close.
