If only Firefly was airing now... it would be renewed so easily when you see all these mediocre shows without a steady audience be renewed for 3 seasons at least....
Killjoys, Dark Matter, The expense... really, not one merits 3 seasons. Expecially compared to a great show like Firefly with nearly perfect chemistry between the characters, great stories, great feel.... So frustrating Fox is such an ass network.
Well, considering that Firefly is the best show ever, you're not wrong that it would have been better than ... any other show in existence, including Dark Matter.
How it is right now though, Dark Matter is one of the best shows around. Doesnt make it good in absolute terms, in fact compared to Firefly it really doesnt hold up too well at all, but at very least they're clearly trying to make an entertaining show. Something I'm doubtful about with some other material out there.

Best show ever? Really?? No offence but I tried to watch Firefly 'cause I was a big fan of Joss Whedon after Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and I thought it was kinda disappointing and wasn't half as interested in it as I was with his other two shows. I can understand why some people liked it but I think 'best show ever' is going a little too far especially when it was cancelled after only having one season.

I totally understand why a series such as Dark Matter would bring to mind a much beloved and fondly remembered series such as Firefly even though it was canceled years ago--that's natural. But it is also natural to remember tv shows from the past that we dearly loved at the time as being better than they would seem now. We recall the highlights and best moments from a series and in our minds those things come to represent all that it was and so just reinforces in our memory how current shows do not measure up to it. I remember a series I really enjoyed as a young man in the early 70s but when I saw it decades later on dvd I thought, "Oh man, this is what I thought was really good".
I really liked Firefly but I never saw an episode until after it was canceled. Evidently I never saw a promo for the show while it was airing and I didn't realize that the title "Firefly" was a sci-fi show. So I watched the series on dvd and didn't learn about what happened with its cancellation and the airing the episodes out of order until after that. No, Firefly was not a perfect show or the greatest sci-fi show ever but I though it was enjoyable in and of itself and not compared to anything else. Ultimately we do remember all things we loved through the colored glasses of our memory but that does not make them any less dear to us now. Just think, there are some who will one day look upon 2016 as the good old days.
