This remains one of the best shows around
I'm sorry but this made me laugh. With respect, I think you should watch some genuinely good series if this is your idea of a "good show" because you're clearly mising out. Dark Matter is extremely mediocre at best. Cringeworthy dialogue and directing much of the time, a cast full of bad stereotypes, questionable acting, ridiculous side characters and a plot that frequently doesn't seem to know where it wants to go.
What it does have is a good premise (although unfortunately not used to the fullest), nice sets and visuals, and some good twists like Ryo's character transformation in the second to last episode. However, I'm really disappointed to think of what the show could have been as opposed to what it actually is. It's a fairly weak, B level series but since space shows - which were once in such abundance - are sadly MIA nowadays, I watch it as a last resort to fill the sci-fi void.
I'll give it this: it's entertaining. Certainly worth a casual view to people who love space shows but nothing special. If you want real quality, watch The Expanse (the first sci-fi show in over a decade to genuinely do the genre justice), or the many classics like Battlestar Galactica (remake), Stargate, Firefly, Farscape, Star Trek and so on. Andromeda was pretty fantastic as well, except for season 5. DM is okay but it certainly doesn't come close to any of those in terms of writing, acting or overall execution.
