This remains one of the best shows around

Good writing, acting and execution. The writers plan ahead and I love that. They don't change the story on a whim, like so many other shows do. I don't think season 2 has been as good the first, but episode 12 almost changed that. Four was subtly different, but it was difficult to tell how different before the final curtain fell. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!

I think 2. Season is far better in terms of script and certainly acting. It evolved from a low budget space cracker to a more serious show that you wait for the next episode.

It has grown, not regressed. Very unusual and great.

I agree.

I enjoyed season 1 but it was a bit uneven.

Season 2 seemed to evince an evolution or maturing of the show.

It still has room to grow and has not yet replaced Stargate SG1 or Stargate Atlantis in my heart (or really posed a serious challenge to either) but it is quite enjoyable and I am looking forward to how it goes from here.

Then you should summon the courage of your convictions and stop watching, right? And definitely stop posting. There is a lot of awfull (sic) television out there, but most of us manage to (a) not watch it and (b) not go out of our way to find an online board to complain about it.

Obviously! Watching people like OP praising the acting and writing makes me laugh so hard. This show is barely decent, but because i love the genre (and because there's nothing else around)i keep watching. That doesn't mean i should turn into a brainless fanboy and see things that aren't there. But let me get out of here before CigarDoug yells at me to stop posting or watching the show!

True. It is campy fun, entertaining, but nowhere near the league of The Expanse. There is no carefully created universe, especially in the second season it seems like they just invent the stuff as they need it without much planning, rather uneconomically. At least they don't cop out of difficult explanations by showing weired montages yet. That is where science fiction usually ends up when the success makes them continue after the initial story has been told.

reply

Agreed, OP. I have been waiting for a new science fiction space opera worth watching for along time and this is it. Never expected to like a sy-fy show show. I love Dark Matter.

"I am glad we didn't kill you".. the line 4 said to 6 sent a shiver down my spine.. That's where I spotted the difference. There' an extra quality or element of authority and focus he got back with his memories. One could just skim the arrogance/pride off that statement when he made it..

I would call it tolerable writing, acting, and overall execution. It all holds up even if it often doesnt make sense.

You are still correct with the statement that its one of the best shows around. Unfortunately thats because so many bad shows are around.

I agree. Out of all the comic book based shows on TV at the moment Dark Matter is by far my favourite. 😃

I would call it so-so, there were definitely several semi-retarded moments, especially towards the end of the last season. Acting also varies a lot, I think some moments were quite bad. I do agree on the planning ahead part, is nice seeing things connected between episodes.
