Tony Stark or Reed Richards?...Its Richards. In the comics Stark is the worlds greatest mechanic.

Having read and collected comics for over 40 years, I would venture (IMHO) that although Richards is probably smarter in an ‘all round’ sense, Stark is more specialised, meaning Richards would normally defer to Stark in his given field of expertise.

I think Forge from the X-Men may take the cake with this one.

It would be more accurate to say Stark is an Engineer rather than a Mechanic. The two are different skills with, granted, a lot of overlap.
