Yay girl power!

That was the LAMEST gimmick in the entire MCU series.

reply

Let's see, in two movies totally about 15 hours of screen time, they included one five-second Girl Power moment.

This is cause for outrage (eye roll).

reply

It was a bunch of hot chicks in tight spandex and leather. And you're complaining about it?

reply

The movie broke the 4th wall in the middle of the final battle, in the most cringy and nonsensical way possible. Only a woke idiot would defend such a stupid decision.

reply

It's a fucking Marvel movie. Everything is unrealistic. And it's a comic book movie. That was a typical panel from, drum roll please, a comic book.

reply

Yep.

That panel shot is as absurdly staged as like that shot at the beginning of Age of ultron with everyone leaping in profile. Like dear god, this is the worst fucking criticism. Yes, it's a cheesy moment. Like 80 percent of these fucking movies.

reply

I don't know about you, but it's for those kinds of shots I watch the MCU. I love seeing our heros in full live-action doing comic book things.

reply

Sorry, I meant to say, I like that shit. I just recognize that it's all equally absurd. But I agree, I want to see over the top fun shit.

Hell just recently, that new Venom 2 trailer, it had Carnage doing that leap with the stained glass window behind him. Like...lol that's totally picturesque, and I love it.

reply

Oh, I was just being rhetorical. I obviously share your opinion on the matter so I figured you were in it for the comic book stuff.

And can we take a moment and talk about the iconic Batwing-over-the Moon from Batman '89? Equally silly and cool as this scene.

reply

oh okay yeah.

And lmao i literally laughed out loud thinking about that shot from Batman '89. So fucking iconic XD.

Actually now that we're spelling this out, I think that's probably why I have always been more open to Snyder's slow mo compared to other folk. I dunno where you stand on the subject, but for me, ever since 300, I liked that his use of slow mo allowed for...basically just really clean photos.

I remember talking with a friend about Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot, and I was like, I didn't like the slowmo in there. And my friend was like, better than Snyder's random slow mo shots. But for me, they weren't random. Snyder uses slow mo to highlight these stylized moments.

reply

They didn’t break the 4th wall. It was dialogue spoken between characters who weren’t addressing the audience.

Was it cheesy? For a full grown adult seeing a children’s movie, yes. For 12 year old girls who like superheroes, it was probably awesome.

reply

Cuz girls have to root for / side with girls, and boys with boys...

I understand this is a comic book movie, but there could still be a higher than kindergarten mentality, you know.

reply

Root for is different than identify with. My 8 year old nephew didn’t dislike when Captain Marvel or Black Widow pose before they beat up that bad people. It’s pathetic that full grown men have a problem with it. OP and his ilk don’t make a stink when Captain America says “Avengers, assemble!” or other superhero tropes. Rather than hold a comic book movie (for children) to a higher standard, I’d expect a higher than preschool mentality of “that lady doesn’t look like me when she does the cool pose, I hate it”

reply

Yeah, I was just gonna say, that was actually a really cool shot. No less dramatic or implausible as the the 360 camera shifts they did in Avengers 1 and 2.

Ppl hating on that are really insecure.

reply

So suddenly in a huge battle with thousands of people all the woman heroes were in exactly the same spot?

Wasp was with Ant Man one scene earlier stood next to the van in question and then she is back to reunite with her female cohorts for the scene to get to the van. Why didn't she just stay where she was.

The difference in your example is that those shots in Avengers were slow motion action shots and included both men and woman.

If the scene came naturally it would have been fine but it didn't. Even Captain Marvels line of not being alone but only woman were there, sorry but no.

And no, people are not insecure for calling out a cringy as hell scene, it needs calling out for what it is. Are you calling woman who don't like that scene also insecure or is just men.

reply

So suddenly in a huge battle with thousands of people all the woman heroes were in exactly the same spot?

You're right. That's so absurd. Everything else that happens in the MCU films are totally reasonable though. All very probable. MCU films are borderline documentary actually.

reply

If this place had upvotes, I'd give you all of them.

reply

Yes! Exactly, it was just a cool shot. And like I wrote above, it's a panel from a comic book.

reply

It isn't outrage, it's an acknowledgement that it was a stupid moment of pointless pandering.

reply

This

reply

it was pretty obvious too...

reply

That's where I finally had enough of this travesty of a movie.

reply

Yep definitely lame and cringey. Pointless as well. They've already shown good female representation in the film and through the franchise, so why the girl empowerment moment?

reply

You know why they did it. To be openly annoying. The goal here was about sending a (stupid) politically charged message. The left is pure societal cancer.

reply

😂

reply

One of the most cringeworthy scenes I've ever seen. There was no need for it, they have a bunch of Female superheros running about, we're aware that Females are kicking ass in the MCU.

reply

She’s got help
