Making Thor fat and pathetic was as much of a leftist political stunt as the stupid "women fighters" scene.

Leftist political propaganda has put a terrible scar on the entire marvel universe.

I thought the melted ice cream line was pretty good.

I look in the mirror and think the same thing.

reply

Come on///fat Thor was funny but you are right about the women.

reply

People suffering from depression and guilt often turn to food and alcohol for comfort. Don't know how that's a leftist propaganda tactic, but keep sniffing that glue...

reply

And that is what fans want to see from the GOD OF THUNDER?

No, that is woke bullshit.

Comic Book fans want to see Heroes being HEROIC, not wallowing in self pity and cheeze whiz.

What should have happened, is Thor should have used the gauntlet to bring ALL the Asgardians back AND recreate Asgard. Even if it killed him. Which it would not.

IM A COMIC BOOK FAN...I OWN X-MEN NUMBERS 2 THROUGH 17 AS WELL AS A COUPLE HUNDRED OTHER BOOKS FROM MY COLLECTING ERA...I ENJOYED THIS FILM AND DISAGREE WITH WITH EVERY WORD OF YOUR POST.

reply

You don't think that Thor, King of Asgard would not have used the cosmic power of the Gauntlet to bring back him mostly genocided people?

reply

NO...I ALWAYS THOUGHT THOR WAS A LAME CHARACTER IN THE BOOKS...THE MCU DID THE DUDE A SOLID...GAVE HIM A PERSONALITY AND SENSE OF HUMOR.

reply

Yeah, you really sound like a hard core comic book fan. LOL!!!

What was your favorite title? Sabrina the teenage witch? Casper the Friendly Ghost?

What was Thor character arc, in the movies? Describe it, as best you can.

reply

BEST SAID BY SOMEONE ELSE.

Thor began his MCU journey as an incredibly spoiled and entitled prince of Asgard. He didn’t have much responsibility and took advantage of his royal status at every turn. In short, the God of Thunder figured that he didn’t have to earn anything and that his ascension to the throne would simply be handed to him. However, after being stripped of his mighty hammer, Mjolnir, and banished to Earth, Thor started down a long and painful road. In Thor, the superhero discovered that his mischievous brother Loki was not actually his biological sibling. Not only did this revelation rupture their bond, but Thor effectively lost Loki as the brother he had always known and worked with because of the Trickster God’s villainous turn. There’s also the fact that he lost Mjolnir, a weapon which gave Thor strength and power.

Things didn’t get any better for him in Thor: The Dark World, which saw Thor’s mother Frigga die protecting Jane Foster, who herself nearly died after absorbing the Aether, a mysterious and powerful force. By the end of the film, Thor also believed Loki to have died (it was a trick), having witnessed his sacrifice in the fight against the villain Malekith, the ruler of the Dark Elves. It was a lot to absorb. What’s more, Thor suffered an insurmountable amount of loss in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War: his father Odin, Loki (for real this time), Jane, the entirety of Asgard, and most of its population. First, at the hands of his sister Hela and later by way of Thanos.

One can argue that Endgame allowed him the time to at least sit with and process his grief, something he never actually had time to do before. Of course, all of this is not to say that the other Avengers haven’t also suffered tremendous loss — Captain America lost Peggy Carter and missed out on his life in general, Hawkeye lost his entire family to Thanos, and so on. However, the tragedies Thor has faced and had to overcome throughout his MCU arc have been on

reply

Not bad. Except for two points.

1. It ignores that Thor grew in the very first movie. He learned humility and responsibility in the very first movie. And how was this paid off in later movies? With genocide and defeat and loss of power. That is poor story telling.

2. And the losses are NOT insurmountable. He was standing right there. If he had asked to use the infinity stones to bring back his people and his homeland, his friends would have agreed. That would have been an excellent pay off for all his suffering and learning, taking his Father place as Protector of the Nine Realms, sacrificing his arm for his people, much like his Father sacrificed his eye. THAT would have been a fitting ending to his journey.

"Comic Book fans want to see Heroes being HEROIC, not wallowing in self pity and cheeze whiz."

You sound like the idiots who make DC movies and wonder why they fail! Part of the MCU's appeal is that the characters are somewhat grounded in reality.

We've already seen the kind of Thor you want in his 1st and 2nd movie, and those were mediocre at best. It wasn't until they humanized him in the 3rd one that the character became a fan favorite.

reply

super hero movies are lame and unless you are a child your are a total doofus for watching them. that being said making a superhero fat is always a funny a good movie. fat people are funny. especially when they tumble over on minor obstacles from being too fat hahahahahaha comedy gold!!!

reply

YOU ARE RATHER JUVENILE WITH YOUR RESPONSES.🙄

reply

you sound like a fatty mcbumbalattie that tumbles over little things like donut boxes and 2 liter bottles of dew

reply

YOU TELL ME...I WEIGHED MYSELF TODAY...IM 212 POUNDS AND 6 FOOT 6...IT DOESNT MATTER TO ME EITHER WAY REALLY...IM NOT CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET.🙂

reply

Nothing leftist about it, they wanted to show that his heart had been broken by being defeated by Thanos twice... and they did it in a way that played to Chris Hemsworth's strengths!

Because face it, Hemsworth isn't the greatest actor there ever was, and if they'd tried to make him be all dramatically heartbroken he probably would have been ridiculous. But he's decent at comedy, and the middle of the film needed some light moments, so the writers cleverly wrote Thor as shattered, but in a way that could be played for comedy. Hemsworth totally pulled it off!

Because yes, surprise surprise Hemsworth really did nail it, his Thor went from being the triumphant savior of the people of Asgard, to an alcoholic slob who'd given up on everything, and who had to struggle back from a pit of beer and despair. Now imagine if they'd tried to make Hemsworth play that arc dramatically instead of hilariously, he'd have sucked and he'd have been a self-pitying drag on the film. Right? Of course right!

reply

Except, Brie Larson.

reply

None of what I said has anything to do with Brie Larson.

reply

Only the "isn't the greatest actor there ever was" part.

reply

Your whole argument was that they went the way they did, because Hemsworth was not a good enough actor to play the role dramatically, so they made him a drunken figure of ridicule.

Larson is easily as bad an actress, and they did not hesitate to have her play it seriously.

reply

Bad paraphrase, because I also argued that having Thor be hilarious worked in the context of the overall film, providing some seriously hilarious comic relief in the middle of the film, where they're regrouping and planning and arguing and discussing their individual trauma.

But if you didn't get that I understand, nobody who goes around objecting to Fat Thor has a senses of humor anyway.

reply

I have a great sense of humor. I just am past giving the Hollywood types the benefit of a doubt.

reply

Nobody thinks they have no sense of humor, they just don't understand why other people are laughing at so many things!

reply

I understand fine. I disagree with you. Your desire to give Hollywood a pass is blinding you.

reply

No, the fact that I laughed until my eyes watered at Fat Thor is what is making me give him a pass.

For everything!

reply

"Him"? Who are you talking about?

reply

Oh, I'll include the character of Thor, Chris Hemsworth, and the writers of "Endgame" in that. They all came out of this movie winners.

reply

....huh?!
