The entire fleet and army was inside Thanos ship.

This part was very questionable but it sets up a battle so epic that you probably won’t really care.

When Thanos ship emerges from the time machine, you can see it expand in size as it crashes through the roof. His entire army and support ships are on his ship--which is absolutely massive. I may be wrong, but I think one site said it's larger than Darth Vader's Super-class Star Destroyer in Star Wars.
