It's a very clever "get outta jail free card" for the writers, I'll give them that.
Now whenever someone says, "why didn't they do this or that" or "They could've just done this to defeat that"
All you gotta say is, cause Doctor Strange didn't see it. They only win in one future. Sequel guaranteed. Noice! π
Maybe they should have broke down all the possible ways to defeat Thanos in the writers room and then had Dr Strange say that number instead? This way when fans try to figure out the possible ways to defeat Thanos from that moment they could see it fits the number.
But one is higher stakes and gets the tension built up perfectly!
Honestly, I just feel like that number is too damn high. They could've just said 140 or even 14 thousand.
But only one in 14 million? C'mon son!
A sequel was guaranteed from the get go anyway. It was initially Avengers Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2, but they renamed Part 2 to Endgame since Infinity War was a complete movie with a beginning, middle, and an end. Not only that, but I believe they were filmed back to back.
