Soooo, in case you haven't figured it out **SPOILER**

Doctor Strange gave Thanos the Time Stone from the 1 (out of 14,605,000) possible future where they actually defeat Thanos.

It is how they will somehow trick Thanos into reversing what he did and restoring the lives taken at the end of AIW#1.

That's my theory, and it's a damn good one.

It's not YOUR theory, it's Strange's. He said it himself, "There was no other way"

reply

He didn't say that explicitly...and while some out there may have inferred that from what he did say, I was the first to put it into words and post it on the interweb.

Don't be jelly; I'm just really good at this type of stuff. ;)

reply

Interesting. Maybe take it a step further... if he really did give him a time stone from an alternate reality, then the time stone from his reality is still accessible to the Avengers. Does Wong have it? Is it waiting for Ant Man in the quantum realm?

reply

Personally, I'd be very disappointed if they used "alternate realities" to create alternate infinity stones

As McGuffins, they lose value if they aren't unique across realities or multiverses or whatever

But that's just my opinion

reply

Well, they did establish that Strange viewed 14,000,065 (I think) different versions of the future. It wasn't clear if those were all separate realities, or variations of the same one, but Marvel's stories have long been based in a mutliverse. It isn't clear that Dr. Strange can pluck something from another, but it's one possible direction in which they could take the story. Personally, I don't think it's what will happen, but it seemed like an interesting way to expand upon Kingswood's theory.

reply

I doubt Strange would have to give Thanos a time stone from an alternate reality. He can probably manipulate the outcome just by handing the stone over at the exact fraction of a second.

reply

Surely Thanos can see Dr Strange's thoughts with the soul stone. As cool as that idea is it's a bit of plot hole is it not? Then again I'm still pissed at Starlord for messing it up.

The pictures of them from the next movie could just have been faked. Which is why they appear to be laughing in most of them to simply throw us off. Would Marvel be that stupid to let those pictures be seen as it reveals some kind of time travel thing going on?

reply

Mind-reading has not been mentioned as a power granted by the soul stone. To reiterate, I don't think that's what the outcome will be. I was merely expanding on a previous poster's theory.
