I went and saw Captain Marvel today. I enjoyed it. Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson are both good and have a lot of fun scenes together. It was entertaining and the story was told in an interesting way. Also, Goose the cat was great. I thought the villain was the weakest part. Although it is not one of the absolute best Marvel movies, it is far from the worst. I rate Captain Marvel a marvelous 8/10. Recommended for fans of superhero movies.

shareI agree with pretty much everything you’ve said. Ben Mendelsohn was also great and stole every scene he was in as he always does.
The Stan Lee version of the Marvel Studios logo was a classy touch as well.
I was NOT expecting that Marvel Studios logo - I got a little choked up and I'm not even that big a fan of the guy
shareI mostly agree except I liked the villain. I loved the bit of twists and turns and Ben Mendelsohn & Jude Law left strong impressions (but mainly Ben). As for Brie and Jackson? They couldn’t have been more perfect together. And as entertained as I was by the whole film, its story really pulled me in. Loved the non-linear structure.
Overall, I think this is a film that’s only going to get better and better for me with repeated viewings — and I already like it as much as any Marvel origin film. It was enthralling.

It’s the little things in this movie that all add up for me as well. The 90’s setting and soundtrack, the cat on the airbase being named after Goose from Top Gun, the chase through the canyon as an homage to Independence Day and Stan Lee’s cameo having him reading the Mallrats script on the bus.

The whole film just screams 1990’s in the best possible way/s (now I’m in the mood for some riot grrrl!). And yup, everything about Stan’s cameo in particular was so sweet.
