only 67%
from Top Critics on RT so far.
shareI thought it was like 86-91 before?
shareIts dropping fast, not looking good.
shareBut yet it’s tracking for just the second biggest opening since Infinity War. So I guess that whole RT 27% score really didn’t matter after all.
sharenot much competition either. BO has been awful in 2019.

naww...doesnt have any thing to do with competition...
6 of the last 8 MCU films have opened over 115 Million on OW...Made over 300 M+ domestically and made 850 M+ WW...
at this point, Its just the MCU Audience...
its doesnt really matter what it goes against, after 20 straight Successful MCU films, The audience is just there...
but seriously nice try...
Next time do I little research and make sure theres not a HISTORY of 6 of the last 8 MCU opening over 115 M....
thats called A PATTERN you know....and that patterns easily shits on your pathetic attempt of suggesting "No Competition" is the reason why its opening so high...
Oh man! You guys are depressing me now!
You know, maybe critics arent the best guide of how good a comic book movie is. Dont they have a tendency to be snobby about them?
If anything I thought they'd be charitable with this one.
These same critics reacted as though Wonder Woman is work of art.
But there's still a lot outstanding.
67 percent from a movie like this isn't impressive, considering the kind of movie it is.
shareTop critic score notwithstanding, its official RT score remains above 80% (the film is already certified fresh). While it seems to be somewhat of a divisive film... I am being reminded of Infinity War’s initial reception by critics... for the most part it is definitely being well-received; it’s nowhere near close to being the failure or disappointment these obsessive incel fools wish for.
Sure, “curiously” CM’s more lukewarm reviews are being highlighted in the headlines a la YouTube (to bother with those coming from conservative outlets is a waste btw - totally not agenda driven!), but the positive reviews, which includes those coming from bigger outlets such as Variety, Rolling Stone, etc do outweigh the rest overall. So in short, Marvel reigns. Captain Marvel reigns! ;}
A lot of those 'top critics' are white men. Maybe they're taking out their umbrage at Larson's interviews (i.e. 'I don't care what a white man thinks of A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn't made for him").
sharePlease unplug.
shareI agree, maybe Brie should have attacked a different gender, skin colour and age as well to be more inclusive with her bigotry.
shareWhy?
Have I said anything you find offensive?
I'm not agreeing with these white men, assuming they are taking personal offence at Larson's comments. I'm simply interrogating their reviews and why they aren't giving the film the praise they've given previous MCU entries.
As a progressive, I'd have assumed that you might agree with my hypothesis regarding possible white male privilege being at play here.
And just to be clear, I'm being 100% genuine.
It doesn't seem to be a divisive film. In a divisive film you usually have people who either love it or hate it.
In this case, it seems that people don't really hate it, they just say it's a bit generic and underwhelming. While people that "like it" just "like it", they say it's a cool movie with nice moments, but that's about it. If anything, this seems a very lukewarm movie, a movie to see casually without a lot of high hopes. An intermission before Avengers, I guess.
I know some are saying it’s more up to par with movies like Doctor Strange, Ant Man, and perhaps the first Thor (all origin films of course). While that can be seen as disappointing for this film, I honestly don’t care because I love the aforementioned films. Plus, it’s not like these movies weren’t all well-received/well-liked. I personally consider Doctor Strange one of the best in the entire franchise.
But mind you, there have been a number of critics (significantly more open minded people than the scummy trolls obviously) who’ve given Captain Marvel as much praise as they’ve given any MCU film. Bottom line, it looks like more critics are liking it than disliking it. I know I’m gonna have a blast.
down to 60% with Top Critics on RT
shareStill above 80% overall (the rating *most* people pay attention to anyway).
🤷♂️
I always look at the Top Critics, then the total, then the audience score.
But I dont think a 20+% gap between the first two is common for these films.
And I have no horse in this race, no axe to grind, no comic allegiance.
*Some* here assume I must.
