Shutter Island was a good lighthouse movie because it was shot entirely in color, not lousy black and white like The Lighthouse with Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson.

Lighthouses are great settings for mystery movies. Earlier ones include:-

The Shadows (2011)
Half Light (2006)
Mystery in Dracula's Castle (1973)
Tower of Evil (1972)

I want to see 'Darkness Falls.' I've heard that there's a really creepy lighthouse scene in that.

It has a few creepy ones. The scene in the lighthouse is creepy, though I think it's not the creepiest one.

The movie is about the fear of the dark. Watch better during the night, with the lights off. It's not a great movie, but it's a very enjoyable guilty pleasure.

Thanks for the recommendation. I like entertaining mysteries that are not necessarily great movies.
