How do people watch those scenes with a straight face?

They're often supposed to be humorous.

I understand the intention but are there people who find it funny? someone speaking there words as if he’s reading them of a page like someone in a high school play.

it's David's sense of humor. You either like it or you don't.

You clearly don't. And that's alright.

I think his character--and his portrayal of Cole--fits in perfectly with the tone of the show. TP is, and has always been, partly comedic.

You’re right. All the other amazingly talented actors in twin peaks put him to shame with their mad skills. Wrong show.

He proved to be not much of a director either, unfortunately. First season of TP was a fluke, just like Romero's NotLD.
