Both finale episodes gave me bodily chills.
Like, a serious physical reaction. Episode 17, during the 1989 segment, and episode 18, the ending. But, it was probably just Lynch covering up his mess with his trademark incoherence...

shareAhem: "His auteur style of incoherence" (BirdmanT7).
shareThe first portion was awesome but I can't say I was thrilled with what followed. Looked like a season finale more than a series finale. Apart from them taking out Mr. C and having a brief reunion with Cooper, nothing was resolved. Audrey wasn't even in it.
I guess those of us who are dissatisfied will have to hope for a season 4, and then hope that if it does happen there will be more resolution. There are certainly lots of potential new plot avenues. Audrey, Annie, Chet Desmond, maybe Harry.....and whatever the hell is going on with the Laura/Sarah/Diane/Judy(?) stuff.
I loved how the sheriff's department, Mitchum brothers and crew, and others just kind of watched what was happening in stunned disbelief. Way to go, Lucy!
shareI know, i swear to god i still have them...like i can't even talk.
shareAlso didn't find out what if anything happened to Becky. Nothing more on Red. No explanation at all about the frog mouth girl.
shareYou might have to connect your own dots. Bring a little bit of yourself to the table. It won't hurt.
shareNah. Too many different ways for that to happen. The ambiguous "leave it up to the viewers' imaginations" line you hear from film makers sometimes is a hogwash cop out. I don't need Lynch to come up with my own stories. If you've got a story to tell then tell it.
sharePersonally, I get bored with the excessive exposition that is the norm. I think I would require the viewer to do a little active viewing too, If I were behind the camera.
shareSo would I. That's clearly not what we're talking about here, is it?
shareWell, it's, erm, clearly what I'm talking about.
shareYou really didn't think Lynch would leave you thinking a little bit about what happened? You've seen Lynch? Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, et al?
shareThis fucking guy....lol
shareI was hoping for more Twin Peaks or Wild At Heart than Lost Highway or Mulholland Drive. I'm a big fan of the former, but only like isolated scenes in the latter.
You're assuming there's something to figure out. I assure you my discernment is second to none. I love figuring stuff out. Lots of people criticize Lynch for being a fraud whose purposeful incoherence only appeals to pseudointellectual poseurs. I've often defended him over the years, arguing that he's imperfect but there is real substance to his work. It doesn't always just appeal to shallow morons looking for some cheap thrill that lets them pretend to be smart. It will be more difficult for me to make that argument after this finale if there is no follow-up. I'm hoping for a follow-up.
