Short answer: Maybe.

Mackenzie Crook was interviewed on-camera just a few months ago (November 2021), and had this to say about the possibility of more Detectorists:

"I would love to do some more. I've got a full year next year [2022]. But you know, if there's a chance to do a bit more Detectorists, I'd love to revisit it, yeah, and I know Toby [Jones] would be into it as well."

You can watch that brief bit yourself if you like, and/or you can read an informative article about the show, which ends with Crook's increasingly positive remarks over the past few years about the possibility of more episodes. Note: For anyone who may be wondering how a lead actor can speak so authoritatively about the future of a show, Crook is also the creator, writer, and director of Detectorists.

Latest answer: Sort of!

I just discovered that a 90-minute Detectorists MOVIE SPECIAL (apparently a BBC television movie) premiered just last month (December 2022), with 14 of the original cast members. Considering that in November of 2021 (see my first post) Mackenzie Crook said he didn't know if there would ever be anything more -- well, either this came on awful suddenly or else he was keeping it hush-hush (or quite possibly a bit of both). The DVD, which will be available at the end of this month (January 2023), can be pre-ordered from Amazon-UK:

Yay! You must live in/near the UK -- our copy is on its way across the Atlantic, expected to arrive in a week or two. But that's fine -- gives us longer to enjoy the anticipation!
