power corrupts, infinite power corrupts infinite. And guess which country was the most powerful at the time? Non-white people were back then considered as garbage and they showed it. It is not that far fetched, that their glorious soldiers, who were likely pissed as hell to do duty on the other side of the planet, also mistreated the inmates who build Australia - especially women, who were really seldom at the time.
